Varicose Veins

Varicose veins are dilated, elongated and tortures vein in legs. Is a form chronic venous disease that is caused by chronic venous hypertension due to reflux (incompetent valve) or obstruction to flow of blood in vein. Its slowly progressive disease that ultimately effects skin above ankle causing skin blackening and non-healing wound.

Symptoms

  • Dilated veins.
  • Pain that is dull aching, heaviness, night cramps.
  • Swelling over ankle on prolong standing and disappears on lying down.
  • Skin discolouration brownish to blackish pigmentation and dry scaly skin.
  • Wound above ankle surrounded by blackish skin.

Treatment

  • Endo venous laser/Radiofrequency
  • Venaseal
  • Sclerotherapy
  • Intravascular ultra sound to rule out obstruction of venous blood flow.
