Diabetic Foot Gangrene

Diabetic patients are prone for foot ulcer because of abnormal weight distribution on foot, decreased sensation,decreased blood flow and altered immunity. Diabetic foot infections are prone to major amputation like above knee or below knee if not attended by specialist at earliest.

Symptoms

  • Wound on foot that is painless and black in colour.
  • Black discolouration of toes.

Treatment

  • Prevention by counselling, regular check up and footwear.
  • Infection control by cleaning.
  • Improve blood flow by angioplasty.
  • Prevent recurrent wound.
